CGWIC attends the 13th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition (2024)

The 13th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China 2021) opens on Sept 28, 2021, in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province. As a window of space internationalization, China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC) delegation led by Mr.Hu Zhongmin, Chairman attends the event. During the exhibition, CGWIC signs a series of important agreements, including the Letter of Intent of procurement of European-African High-throughput Communication Satellite System and the multiple procurement agreements of Long March launch vehicle, with APT Mobile SatCom Limited (“APSAT”), China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT), China Academy of Space Technology (CAST), Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST), and others respectively.

The multiple procurement agreements of Long March launch vehicles have been signed between CGWIC and CALT and SAST respectively at the 13th Zhuhai Airshow. Under the agreements, CGWIC will procure batches of Long March launch vehicles from CALT and SAST in the coming years.

With the rapid development of international and domestic commercial space market, the demand for highly reliable and cost-effective Long March launch services grows significantly. To aim at the marketing of Long March Express launch services, strengthened by the innovation mode of commercial dedicated rideshare, with the support from CALT and SAST under the agreement, CGWIC is able to start the development of launch vehicles in advance to shorten the delivery cycle, and improve the capability and quality of launch services, which enables CGWIC to meet the customers’ needs with more flexibility and strengthen the competitiveness edge of Long March launch vehicles. The signing of the agreements is of great significance to facilitate Long March launch vehicle to satisfy both domestic and international customers and promote the “dual circulation” development paradigm.

On September 29, 2021, CGWIC and CAST, which are subsidiaries of China Aerospace Science & Technology Corporation (“CASC”), and APSAT signs the Letter of Intent of procurement of European-African High-throughput Communication Satellite System(“E-A ComSat”) at China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition. The APSTAR-6D Satellite, which was launched in July 2020, was delivered to APSAT by CGWIC successfully. APSTAR-6D is the most technologically advanced and the most complex commercial communications satellite, delivered by Chinese satellite manufacturer, which has been widely used in various fields, including direct broadcasting, airborne satellite communications, emergency rescues and etc.. E-A ComSat was a high-throughput communication satellite developed based on the DFH series satellite platform, mainly covering Western China, Western Europe, Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, and other regions. As the prime contractor, CGWIC with its subcontractors is committed to the delivery of this program, and CAST as the subcontractor will be responsible for the development and manufacture of the satellite.

CGWIC releases the future three key market directions on the 13th Zhuhai Air Show.

DFH-3E Small GEO

Driven by market demand, the small GEO satellite presented by CGWIC and CAST is an advanced satellite with international competitiveness, featuring saving, smart, and superior. Based on the DFH-3E platform, the small GEO satellite possesses a superior payload ratio and high flexibility with fully electric propulsion, which can carry 20~30 transponders, benefiting from the space-ground optimization design and MFPB technology, it could possess a superior capacity as 30~50Gbps with small-sized and low-cost launch vehicles, and over 100Gbps with medium-sized launch vehicles. This market orientation can fully meet the market demand for small and medium-sized communication satellites, and match cost-effective launch vehicles. At present, the turn-key solution has been offered to clients worldwide. The first mission, APSTAR-6E Satellite is planned to be launched in 2022.

Commercial Dedicated Rideshare by Long March Express

Driven by a boom of launch demand of small satellites, following the development trend, CGWIC innovatively presents the Commercial Dedicated Rideshare by Long March Express launch services, which also is named “Long March Express Rideshare”. In such missions, CGWIC plays the role of the overall coordinator of project progress and interfaces between the launch vehicle and all the rideshare payloads, which share the common launch schedule and designated orbit in one launch mission. By promotion of Long March Express Rideshare, CGWIC has made efforts to reduce costs, improve efficiency and provide more customized services for international and domestic customers by making full use of the launcher capacities of Long March launch vehicles.

Following the success of the first Long March Express Rideshare mission performed by Long March-6 launch vehicle on 27 April 2021, two more Long March Express Rideshare launch services contracts have come into signature during Airshow China 2021, which will be conducted by the LM-2D and LM-8 launch vehicle respectively, providing reliable launch services to meet the international and domestic customers’ needs and promote the “dual circulation” development paradigm.
