Last weekend I went through a batch of about ten limes. Why? Because we're only one month away from Cinco de Mayo! And what better way to kick off the Mexican celebrations than a delicious strawberry margarita recipe? In fact, every Friday until May 5th I'll be posting a brand new margarita recipe and I can't wait!
I'm not overly keen on plain margaritas, so this strawberry margarita is about as ordinary as it gets around here when it comes to Mexican co*cktail recipes. The intoxicating combination of sweet, fruity strawberries, cool, cutting lime juice and hot, spicy tequila means that this co*cktail is one of my ultimate favourites. And you know what? I bet it's a lot easier to make than you first thought!
Since this is a frozen strawberry margarita recipe, you will need to think ahead a few hours before you plan on making itbecause you'll need to use frozen strawberries. That's how you get the co*cktail icy cold and oh-so-wonderfully thick. I also thicken mine up with a bit of ice, which helps to balance out the strong flavour of the tequila, too.
Despite absolutely loving margaritas, I'm not too fond of the taste of tequila. Weird right?
You can totally dip the rims of your glasses into water then sugar, orsalt if you're going for the traditional Mexican method, but I never do. When I was little and we went on holiday, I always used to order kids' co*cktails served in glasses which were coated in the most sickly-sweet coloured sugar. I think I over did it one holiday and can't stomach sugar on my co*cktails now as an adult. Yuck!
If you want something more exciting than a strawberry margarita to celebrate Cinco de Mayo this year,I've got plenty of other margarita recipes on the blog, such as Frozen Lime Beergarita, Limoncello Beergaritaand .
What is your favourite margarita flavour?

I love strawberry daiquiris but was never such a fan of margaritas - but this one sounds delicious! Pinning this to make later - from the Pin Me Link Party on Diana Rambles

Thanks so much for the pin, Kristen! I like rum better than tequila, so I favour daiquiris, too!
