Does anyone else see this a big problem? (2)

Artwork in modern RPGs, specifically JRPGs has decreased in quality in the last ~20 years to the point where most new games look like they were made using RPG Maker assets. Is it that hard for studios to hire competent artists, or do consumers actually prefer the modern weeby anime style where every character has the same expressionless face?

The entire gaming industry has taken a "less is more" approach after Breath of the Wild popularized minimalist UI and menus.

That song isn't Mitsuda, but he has done music for the game and is the executive music producer or whatever the title is. The score is handled by Procyon, which is his company made of his proteges. They also did the music for Xenoblade 3. The game is by Masato Kato and is off brand Chrono Break. Probably the most RPGlike gacha but still a gacha.

Yes, art has lost personality and become sterilized corporate sh*t. Not only in video games, but card games, tabletop, books etc.
That is why AI art isnt even so bad, art has already lost its soul.

He makes a good point. Corporate “art” was already becoming AI “art” before AI “art” was invented. The same goes for “cinema” and “literature”. I look forward to seeing what humans will come up with to stand out, if anything at all, else we might as well let AI take care of it.

      >The Mother Brain (FATE) is afraid that those events may severely change the future
      >She proceeds to hide all the technology in the Sea of Eden and lobotomizes the people
      >Also hides the Frozen Flame, the relic that allows Lavos to communicate with humans
      >Many of years later
      >Serge's father takes Serge to the legendary Sea of Eden in a desperate attempt to save him from an attack he suffered
      >Serge resonates with the Frozen Flame and becomes the arbiter, the only person capable of using it
      >In the game, all the frickery happens because FATE wants Serge's body

Been a while, but as I recall the paradox produced by the ending of Trigger(by defeating Lavos on 1999, the future Chrono and co. learned about him in no longer exists) was part of the reason everything went breasts up

Lavos and Schala got stuck in Time Purgatory and want to destroy all reality rather than continue to exist/not exist forever. Through a cycle of broken time loops, they hijack both the ultimate achievement of Humans (Chronopolis and FATE) and the ultimate achievement of the Reptites (The Dragon Gods).
The only way to stop them and to set the future back to the right path (the good endings of Chrono Trigger) are to go into Time Purgatory and free Schala. Since that is OUTSIDE of Time, it means that Schala never has the chance to be corrupted by Lavos and never has the chance to frick with the timeline.
Once Schala is freed, the whole game and backstory undoes itself and everyone gets to have a nice summer vacation. The end. However, this means Kid never exists as a "daughter-clone" and Schala gets shunted to 1999AD and is seemingly the only one to retain memory of what transpired.

Ultimately not really. It is just an excuse to go on an adventure through pretty pre-rendered backgrounds while Masato Kato barfs sophmore year philosophy on you.
Chross real seems like an "artist's game." The music is great, the visuals are great, but it comes off as incredibly masturbatory.
I like it a lot while thinking it is only decent as a game.
